We ship frozen orders out Mon-Thurs in order of shipping radius. Our shipping facility is in Tulsa, OK. Orders that have a 4 day transit time ship out first on Mondays, followed by orders that have a transit time of 3 days on Tuesday/Wednesday, and orders with a transit of 1 to 2 days are shipped on Wednesday/Thursday. Orders are delivered between Thursday-Saturday.

FAQs

There are 40 patties weighing 8 oz each in a 20-pound bulk box.

Bags of nuggets are packaged by weight and not by number of cups, so cups of nuggets may vary slightly per bag. You get approximately:

  • 16-18 cups from our 20 oz freeze-dried bags
  • 20 cups from our frozen 5 lb bags of nuggets
  • 5-8 cups from our Quest cat food

If your pet has never eaten a raw diet, you will to transition them gradually to the new food by  mixing their current diet with the new food. Check out our transitioning guide with tips and tricks on transitioning to raw.

Frozen raw should remain cold until ready to thaw and serve. Food safe temps are 40 degrees or colder.

Freeze-dried raw should be stored in a cool, dark area like a pantry or cupboard.

Frozen raw cat food

I wanted my cat to love this. He won’t touch it. I tried it by itself and mixed in with his old food. No go. Tried over several days.

So far so good!

Learned about Steve's raw/freeze dried foods from Dr. Becker's Real Food book. In an effort to both identify food allergies/sensitivities in our 4 yo dog and support a 16 yo cat with a complicated health history, decided to give it a go-- at at the end of the day, it is roughly the same cost as canned (wasteful, smelly, potentially harmful) wet food.

Bought a bag of the frozen pork dog (+cat) nuggets (BARF formula) locally; the dog wouldn't touch them but the cat went nuts. After a week of feeding that exclusively (the cats also have access to a limited quantity of free choice kibble each day), bought this variety pack (Quest prey diet for cats) so she would have options.

From the beginning it was an incredibly easy transition with no (zero! I was shocked!) digestive upset, and within a week I noticed that she had put on weight. I only wish I'd found this brand sooner, but am very much looking forward to helping her be her best, healthiest self for however long we have left with her.

Unfortunately, only 1/3 of our creatures will eat the frozen variety of raw food-- my next purchase will be freeze dried for the holdouts, to see if we can't entice them that way. Freeze dried rabbit (from another brand) has proven wildly popular with all three.

We are due for bloodwork soon-- curious to see how much, if any, the cat's seemingly improved health is reflected in the labs!! Thank you thank you for renewed health and hope!!

Good starting point

We have 4 adult cats, so we started with the variety pack to see what flavors they'd prefer. Chicken is the overwhelming favorite with all of them, and whitefish is second. They'll eat the beef if nothing else is left. All, including the most food-driven cat of them, avoid the pork even when there's nothing else left.

Their preference for chicken may well be because they've eaten chicken-based food since they were kittens.

Anyway, I'm glad we didn't buy 4 bags of a flavor they're not fond of. This variety bundle is a great way to test out cats' preferences.

As always with this company, I feel so much better about what the cats are eating than I did feeding them kibble and canned.
